Heritage Trust Network
I have recently subscribed myself as a member of the Heritage Trust Network, from where TOCAG now has a members profile page (ranking just below the ‘Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery’ on google searches).
The Heritage Trust Network is an association of 210 Buildings Preservation Trusts specifically for those protecting and managing heritage assets.
I now have access to their ‘Toolkit’ of guidance, templates and plans for proceeding from the start of an asipration to protect a Heritage Asset, through stages and topics such as :
- Setting up an organisation: Developing a strategic plan ; Communications and profile
- Planning your Project : Developing a vision and setting up framework to measure impact; Historic building ownership and acquisition ; Building Community Support for your project ; Developing a conservation plan ; Project briefs and plans ; Developing a fundraising strategy ; Historic Environment Legislation, Policy & Statutory Controls
- Delivering your Project: Community participation, learning and training during the construction phase ; Heritage, Arts and cross-cultural sector collaborations
- The Future!: Building management and maintenance plan ; Running a successful visitor attraction or museum ; How to set up a successful education programme
The HTN is also crucially a community within which advice and guidance can be shared interactively and at regular regional events, and a benefit of membership is being put in contact with projects who have gone through a journey such as ours.
This is where detailed work is going to start – we really need to mobilise teams within TOCAG to start working on these many specific tasks and workstreams to make significant progress going forward. .
