Walt Disney’s Norman ancestors owned Thundridge Manor from 1300-1543, and it was during this time that the medieval bell tower of Thundridge Old Church was built. On the 24th of June TOCAG will be hosting a free community event to lay midsummer Disney roses at the Old Church from 5:30pm until sunset.
Be our guest at this event and bring friends, family, and food. There will be children’s activities and crafts, historical information, cakes, and lots of Disney-themed fun for all. Donations are welcome and go towards TOCAG’s efforts to save this at-risk, grade-2-listed tower.
This event comes to you courtesy of the transfer of ‘the manor of Thunrich’ (and other properties) from William Disney the Elder (knight) and Eustache his wife to William Disney the younger and his wife Joan (and the heirs of their bodies) on payment of 300 marks of silver, along with a promise to render “yearly one rose at the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist,” on the 20th October 1347 in the reign of Edward III.
